Over the years, the holiday homes of neighbours Philipp & Tinie and Ted & Margaret have always been abuzz with the comings and goings of friends, family and offspring who have relished their gracious hospitality. And so it was, on one of their legendary sunset booze cruises on the Kromme River, no doubt swayed by the setting sun and perhaps the sundowners, that these four friends decided to join forces and open their holiday homes to guests.
And ever since, visitors to Kromme Island Lodge have been enchanted by the tranquil setting of this bed & breakfast establishment set in a small private nature reserve near St Francis Bay on the Garden Route in the Eastern Cape of South Africa. Situated on the tidal Kromme River five kilometres from the river mouth at St Francis Bay, the Lodge overlooks the sandy island in the fork between the Kromme and Geelhout Rivers, a well-known landmark for those who use the river. This part of South Africa is malaria-free.
Whether you want to unwind in a peaceful environment or make the most of the outdoors, we invite you to sit back and enjoy the hospitality of your hosts at Kromme Island Lodge. Tinie and Margaret have a formidable reputation in the kitchen and no stay would be complete without tucking into one of their sumptuous meals served in the gazebo at the water’s edge.
